It is a special and exciting day for us today, and we´re thrilled to share with you 蔡健雅 Tanya Chua´s new song/music video «Strange Species»! Michael´s dark electronic arrangement is perfectly molded to Tanya´s wonderful song and beautiful longing vocals. Narrating the world we live in today, how alienated and distanced we´ve become in a seemingly cold technological world. How to find a way back again to the core, to oneself and people of the same kind.

We want to keep you informed, what is happening in the Lightshifters universe! This is another BIG NEWS for us: I (Michael) had the pleasure to arrange the song “Strange Species” for the award-winning Singaporean singer-songwriter Tanya Chua. My purpose has been to create an atmospheric electronic soundscape that fits to her inspiring lyrics and vocals. It turned out that this song has been chosen to be the first single from the new album! Wow… what a great honor!!
Tanya Chua, resided in Taiwan, has started to promote the release of her new album “Aphasia” with a YouTube clip – the album will be released on November the 13th. Enjoy some impressions from the recording- and mixing-sessions in Los Angeles and listen to a snippet of “Strange Species”!
We are very happy to announce our new single with the tracks „Flickering Lights“ and „Eternal Mortals“. It will be officially released as a digital download worldwide on the 27th of March. But we couldn’t wait and made it available already exclusively on Bandcamp – you can stream and download it here! Once again we have been asked by German music magazine Orkus! to add a Lightshifters song to the CD-Compilation that comes with the magazine. It turned out that they love the song „Fire“ very much, which is the second song on our Single-CD „The Storm“. We agreed that it really deserves more attention and feel honoured by such a great feedback! So watch out for Orkus! No. 10 and find our song „Fire“ on Orkus!-Compilation 102.

Last year we released “Luminous“, a precious little song that means a lot to us and that we would like to share with you as a christmas gift. To shorten the wait to the release of our single “The Storm” we decided to upload a very special demo version on Soundcloud for you. Forglemmegei is the first song, Phoenix wrote in Norwegian. The name means the flower Forget-me-not. A symbol of remembrance. The Peacock Butterfly (Aglias io) picture was taken after its many visits in our studio. Amongst the things butterflies symbolize are love, souls, spirits and rebirth. The song is about the loss of a loved one.
